Description

Our reclaimed wood shelving units are constructed from premium reclaimed, scaffolding boards. The units are either one, two, three or four scaff boards high. The units can either be fixed to a wall or free stand on the floor. If free standing its advised that the unit is still secured to the wall to prevent the unit tipping or being pulled over. All our furniture is hand made in our Swansea workshop so if you require a specific size or height table, not available in the selection, please contact us and we will help with your request.

We love to use reclaimed wood, giving it a new lease of life. Once sanded and oiled the true beauty and character of the wood shines through. The metal units are welded and fabricated in our Swansea workshop from chunky 40x40mm box section. We only use quality steel, much thicker than foreign imports. The steel is wire brushed and then coated with a durable clear lacquer to prevent rusting.
Unlike foreign imports all our furniture is completely handmade in South Wales, UK using locally sourced materials. We strongly believe in supporting local and use local suppliers wherever possible.

Considerations

The scaffold boards we use are reclaimed and have been locally sourced from scaffolding companies. Each board is unique and will have its own signs of wear depending on its time on the scaffold and how it’s been used. This is all part of the rustic character which can’t be duplicated when using new scaffold boards. This does mean that the colour and overall finish will vary from scaff board to scaff board and may differ from that shown in the photos. The scaffolding boards can have manufacture branding on the sides, cracks/splits/shakes, dents/dings, burns, grinder cuts, paint from scaffolding company identification, metal /copper nails. All these characteristics are what set reclaimed scaffolding boards apart from new scaffolding boards and give the rustic industrial look. Our reclaimed scaffolding boards may have a small amount of twist, cupping or bowing and may move a little whilst they acclimatise to their new environment.

When staining reclaimed scaffold boards, it’s important to be aware that every scaff board may stain slightly lighter or darker and the colour may vary depending on your screen contrast and brightness. However, we have done our best to display our stains in the photographs.

Our scaffold boards are sealed with commercial grade furniture oil. Do not use strong multi-surface spray cleaners on the tabletop as this may damage the finish. Wipe up any spills immediately and clean with warm water. Its advisable to oil the scaff boards every few months to maintain the protection.

Delivery

The reclaimed scaffolding board shelving units are delivered as two, three or four single scaff boards with the metal unit ends separate, making it easier to access buildings and reduce delivery cost. It is recommended that a professional or experienced person assembles and fixes the unit to the wall. The scaffolding boards will require screwing to the metal ends, this will be made easier with an electric drill/screwdriver but is still possible by hand. The reclaimed scaffold shelving unit is supplied with the screws required and is best assembled on the wall or on the ground if free standing.
The metal ends are screwed to the wall with fixings best suited to the wall type, be it solid like brick or plasterboard. The unit is supplied with x4 100mm screws and red plugs suitable for a masonry wall. If you require any other type of fixing this will have to be supplied by the installer. The metal ends are recommended to be placed 50mm in from both ends. The hole fixings for the wall are places such that the shelf hides them once assembled, if additional holes need to be drilled this is possible with a metal drill bit. Any questions with fitting please contact us for help and advice. Like all our furniture, delivery is FREE!
